Tournify alternative
for your padel tournament or league

For clubs and organisers who want to run a ladder, americano or a format with rotating partners such as mexicano next to groups and knockouts, Slams is an alternative to Tournify: according to its own help centre, Tournify does not support those formats, and Slams keeps its own rating for every player on the same scale as the Dutch KNLTB. The free Start plan covers up to 20 teams per event and 2 events at the same time; for a paid event the player pays a 4% platform fee (minimum €0.95) on top of the entry fee. If you mostly run small tournaments of up to 8 teams, Tournify's free plan is cheaper for your players.

Online payment through Slams works for clubs in 37 countries, including the EEA, Switzerland, the United Kingdom, the US and Canada; Mollie only for clubs that charge in euros. In Australia, Hong Kong, Japan, Mexico, New Zealand and Singapore a paid event cannot open yet. In all other countries the club collects the entry fee itself, outside Slams, and the player pays no platform fee. Outside the euro a comparable minimum applies in the local currency.

Worked example: 16 teams, €20 per person

A padel tournament with 16 pairs and an entry fee of €20 per person (€40 per team, €640 in total). Everyone pays with iDEAL.

Slams (Start, through Stripe)

Subscription
€0
Each pair pays
€40 + €1.60 platform fee = €41.60
The organiser receives
€640
Total cost
€25.60, paid by the players

Tournify (World Class)

Upgrade for this event
€40
Each pair pays
€40
iDEAL fees at Mollie
16 × €0.32 = €5.12
The organiser keeps
€594.88
Total cost
€45.12, paid by the organiser in this example

With Slams each pair pays €1.60 more and the organiser keeps €45.12 more. At Tournify the organiser can also pass the costs on, with an extra product that is added automatically to every registration; then each pair pays about €2.82 more. If you connect Mollie in Slams instead of Stripe, the club pays the iDEAL fees itself (€5.12) and receives €634.88.

When Tournify costs less

  • →Up to 8 teams, Tournify is cheaper. Amateur is free and your players pay no platform fee. If you take online payments through Mollie (as far as we know, this also works on the free plan), the organiser only pays the transaction fees: 8 × €0.32 = €2.56. With Slams the players pay €12.80 in platform fees together.
  • →With a higher entry fee the balance shifts. From €70.63 per team, 16 teams pay more in Slams platform fees together than the organiser spends at Tournify.
  • →Without online payment, Slams is free up to 20 teams per event and 2 events at the same time; Tournify is free up to 8 teams, as often as you like, and costs €40 per event above that.
  • →If you run many events a year, compare the annual prices too: Community costs €300 per year for up to 30 tournaments, Plus costs €190 per year for unlimited events.

When is Tournify the better fit?

Choose Tournify if you mostly run small tournaments: up to 8 teams it is free, as often as you like, and your players pay no platform fee. Tournify has referee management, also for padel. For team sports such as football or hockey it also tracks goals and cards. If you want your tournament in Tournify's Android and iOS app with push notifications (with an upgrade), payments in more than 25 currencies or an admin dashboard in Polish, Tournify offers that. The entry fee lands in your own Mollie account without a Tournify surcharge; that does require a Chamber of Commerce registration and a business bank account. Tournify says it has more than 300,000 organisers.

When is Slams the better fit?

Choose Slams if you want to play more than groups and knockouts: americano and mexicano, King of the Court, Beat the Box, a league with a schedule for the whole season or a ladder where players challenge each other. Slams keeps its own rating for every player on the same scale as the Dutch KNLTB (1 to 10.9999, lower is better), which moves after played matches in tournaments, King of the Court, Beat the Box, leagues and ladders. If you organise more than now and then, there is no price per event: Start is free up to 20 teams per event and 2 events at the same time, and Plus costs €19 per month for unlimited events. And if you want to receive the full entry fee: through Stripe the player pays the platform fee separately, and Slams takes nothing from the entry fee.

Frequently asked questions

For a padel tournament with groups and a knockout, Tournify and Slams both do what you need. If you also want to run a ladder, americano or mexicano, Slams is an alternative: according to its own help centre, Tournify does not support ladders, americano or formats with rotating partners, such as mexicano. Slams also keeps its own rating for every player on the same scale as the Dutch KNLTB.

It depends on the number of teams. Up to 8 teams Tournify is free and your players pay no platform fee, so Tournify is cheaper. Above that, Tournify costs €40 per event (up to 60 teams) or €120 (unlimited). Slams is free up to 20 teams per event and 2 events at the same time; for a paid event the player pays a 4% platform fee, minimum €0.95. With 16 teams at €20 per person, each pair pays €1.60 more with Slams; if the organiser covers the costs at Tournify, they keep €45.12 more with Slams.

No. According to Tournify's help centre, ladders, the Swiss system and americano are not supported, and neither are tournaments with rotating doubles partners; mexicano is such a format. In Slams, ladder, americano and mexicano are regular formats, and you can also play americano and mexicano as mixed.

Yes. For each division you put all teams in one group and schedule the rounds per match day; after that you can add extra phases, such as playoffs. According to Tournify, continuous scheduling with an end time per court is not possible (yet). As long as the same teams take part all season, a league counts as one event at Tournify. In Slams you play a league in rounds, with groups or divisions, and the results count towards the rating.

At Tournify, Tournify itself charges nothing per registration and the organiser pays Mollie's transaction fees, for example €0.32 per iDEAL payment. At Slams the player pays a 4% platform fee, minimum €0.95, as a separate line when signing up. Through Stripe the organiser then receives the full entry fee; with a Mollie connection the club pays Mollie's transaction fees itself.

According to Tournify, an annual plan works out cheaper if you run more than 8 tournaments a year: Community costs €300 per year (including VAT) for up to 30 tournaments, each with unlimited teams. At Slams, Plus costs €190 per year for unlimited events and teams; for paid registrations the players also pay the platform fee.
