What is it?

What is Beat the Box?

In Beat the Box, participants are divided into small groups ("boxes") of 4 to 16 players. Within each box, everyone plays everyone else. The standings in each box decide the box winner. If you want players to move up or down a box, you redraw the boxes for the next round yourself: Slams does not move players automatically.

Frequently asked questions

Frequently asked questions

The most common box sizes are 4 or 8 players. With 4 players per box, a round is played quickly. With 8 players a full box round takes longer, but the matches become more evenly balanced as the rounds progress.

Yes. The draw into boxes is random, so levels are mixed. Want to play by level? Set up a separate Beat the Box per level, or redraw the boxes for a next round based on the standings. Slams does not move players automatically.
